NZ-madeMembrane systems

We waterproof decks across Auckland — residential and commercial. Every installation starts with correct drainage design and ends with a system that works.

What we do

Membrane systems engineered for exposed surfaces

Decks and balconies are among the most demanding surfaces to waterproof. Constant UV exposure, foot traffic, thermal movement and Auckland's rainfall all work against the membrane.

We specify the right system for each substrate — timber frame, concrete slab, or composite — and install it correctly. No shortcuts. No callbacks.

Why it matters

What separates a lasting deck from one that fails

01

Correct drainage design

Standing water destroys decks. We design fall and drainage into every installation — not as an afterthought.

02

Right system for the substrate

Timber moves. Concrete cracks. The membrane system must accommodate movement without failing at joints or upstands.

03

Detail work done properly

Most leaks originate at penetrations, upstands and junctions — not the field area. We treat details as primary, not secondary.

How it works

From enquiry to installed membrane

01

Site assessment

We inspect the deck substrate, existing drainage, and any current waterproofing to determine the correct specification.

02

Specification & quote

We provide a clear, itemised quote with the recommended system — no vague estimates, no surprise charges.

03

Surface preparation

Proper prep is the foundation of any lasting membrane. We prepare the substrate before any product goes down.

04

Installation & sign-off

Membrane applied, details completed, drainage confirmed. Work is only signed off when we're satisfied it's right.

FAQ

Common questions about deck waterproofing

A correctly specified and installed membrane system typically lasts 15–25 years depending on the product, substrate and exposure conditions. Torch-on and TPO systems tend to have the longest service life in NZ conditions.

Butynol (EPDM) is often the preferred system for timber substrates due to its flexibility and ability to accommodate movement. Torch-on membranes can also be used with the correct primer and underlay. We'll recommend the right system after inspecting your specific deck.

Not always. Sometimes a targeted repair at the failure point is sufficient. We assess the existing membrane condition before recommending any work — we won't recommend full re-waterproofing if a repair will resolve the problem long-term.

Most residential deck waterproofing jobs take 1–3 days depending on size, substrate preparation required, and the system being installed. We'll give you a clear timeline at the quoting stage.

Yes — a significant portion of our work is with builders and project managers on new residential and commercial builds. We're familiar with construction programmes and can coordinate our installation to suit.
